So, I just need to know about some good reputable places to get a student loan. I don't want to get screwed by some online scam. I would also like to find a place that I don't have to pay payments to until after I graduate. Would a bank allow me to do that? Help! :)

Hello, I am currently a student at a community college, but yesterday I got my acceptance letter to a 4 year University. Basically, I want to prepare now (financially) to get the things I will need to go away (the school is not located where I currently live). Of course my parents are there to help, but we are definately not rich. I realllly want a laptop or a computer for school, but don't know how I will ever be able to afford one. Are there any tips on how to get one for cheaper?

I DO NOT want a co-signer. And don't tell me I cannot get one...that doesn't help me. What are my options here...I can show a savings of about 4,000...does that help? Any info out there will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

My sister wants me to cosign a private student loan for her. I already have in the past, just four months ago, but she needs more money. I told her I couldn't, as I didnt know the long term consequences. She became upset, and is threatening to live in her car (we are both students at the same college) if i don't cosign. She thinks i am evil and is incredulous that I won't do this for her own sister. What should I do?

College is becoming increasingly important in our society. I don't understand why it has to be so expensive. If it's detrimental to getting a good job, why do we have to pay a price that is constantly rising? Starting in 2009 for 4 yrs. at 7% inflation with 1 yr cost of $12,968.50 it would cost a projected $65,922.66. Is it any wonder why this country is so in debt? What are your thoughts?

My cousin wants to move down to Virginia from up north, and wants to go to a school called Tidewater Community College. Of course the school doesn't have on-campus housing. Are there any scholarships/grants/loans out there that can assist with housing for a student that can't live on campus?

My loan amount right now is 20,000 and plan to take out no more than 10,000, hopfully less, to finish off next year. Is this an average amount, 30,000? I plan on living very inexpensivly so I can afford making above normal payments to try and knock out interst...just wanting to know if anyone has or is going through college and has some advice

Let's say I got a student loan to cover my college tuition and it costs about $1,200 per year. If I graduate in 4 years, how long will it take me to pay off my loan? Or in other words, how much would I have to pay off per month upon graduation? How does this work?

I am unemployed and LITERALLY out of money. I feel like I cant find a job here and feel like college is my best option. However I do not want to be stuck in Connecticut for another 3 years or not even 1. So, I rather go out of state to look for a college. Any suggestions?? Is this possible even tho I am like piss poor broke?

I am going to a community college to become a Radiologist Technician. I finished all my prerequisite class I need for the program, now I just have to apply in January and see if I am accepted into the program. So basically I can take this next semester off. However, I would like to take a computer graphics course. I already have money for this coming up semester to pay for it with my financial aid, but I was told by a financial aid lady at my school that it’s not a good idea to take courses that are not involved with your program (she was being a total rude *****). Does taking a class that is not involved with my program mean that I will get less financial aid money next year when I’m actually in the program?

I am currently 24 and have not really taken my education as seriously as I should have. I am now VERY focused and I would like go back to get my degree in English/Film. I am still working on my AA (so you can see how much time I've wasted), and I only have about 13/60 units thus far. I am currently unemployed and am looking for a job. I applied for financial aid last year, but they denied me, because I made too much when I was working in 2006. They consider 18,000 too much I guess. I currently have my own apartment and have alot on my plate, needless to say. I have no kids, and I'm just trying to get my life together. I REALLY want and need to o back to school, not only to get a degree, but to learn more and just educate myself well.
I know I may not be able to get a loan, without a job, I'm not sure if financial aid will approve me, I made a little over 5,000 this year and that's barely enough to eat. I would've had a job by now, but my petty theft record is making it hard for me.
