Financial Aid

I was under the impression that my husband had his school expenses covered completely by grants. Come to find out we are now yet another $4000 in debt that is NOT in our budget to repay. Everything else is always so far behind there is no way I can get another $150 a month out now-$300 once he finishes and has to begin repaying BOTH loans.

I do not have anyone to cosign for me, and am not eligible for financial aid. Can anyone tell me if there are some companies which give student loan for bad credit. I don't mind the interest rate because it's my last semester, so I probably will not borrow more than 15,000 total. I already tried with Upromise and was denied. Thanks

Hi all,

I am falling too far behind on my college work and think I am going to fail the year..... would it be wise for me to drop out ? and if so would that have a negative affect on me going back to college next year ?

Could/would I have to pay back the bursary ?

would this go against me getting a bursary next year ?

any other info ?

has anyone here ever dropped out of college....

(I have started receiving my bursary but would be willing to some how pay the payments received back)

any advice ?

I am in college still and my hubby lost his job, so is wanting to finish up his degree. It's just the 2 of us, no kids and I am the only one working right now. His EFC value was 7843...will he qualify for anything besides student loans? We want his to qualify for financial aid or pell grants....is his EFC too much?

I have been awarded enough financial aid to go to school full time, pay my bills, but in the end I'll be at least $20,000 in debt. If I go slower, I don't need as much money to pay my bills because I can work full time at the same time. Everyone says to take the loans and I am afraid to ruin my life for the future. It's a very big decision, so I've decided to do what every sane person would..ask Yahoo....

I have a BS in Human Resources Management. But I want to go back to school and pursue something different. I think I used up the maximum amount of federal student loans I can get for undergraduate credits. Are there any other options for me other than trying to pay out of pocket??

I am planning on attending APSU (Austin Peay State University) in Tennessee, and I think i may have college paid for but i need to make sure. OK, I know i will be getting the Hope scholarship (Lottery scholarship), their Presidential Scholarship, and a Sonic Drive-In Scholarship. That adds up to 10,000 dollars, but after adding up everything, I still need about 3,000 dollars. What other scholarships should i apply for? My mother and father are on disability, so do they give any grants? Thank you and please be professional about this please and if you are from Tennessee that would help me as well thanks again.

I am set to graduate next year and I will only have $500 left for one semester, leaving me with a $1071 gap in my financial aid. What, besides a private loan, can I do to get the money? I'm an independent student with a 3.5 GPA and I will have 109 credits at that time. I already have a Pell Grant, Perkins Loan, and FSEOG Grant. I live in Illinois and I qualify for the MAP grant, but it's still not enough. Any *legitimate* help is appreciated. I don't want any information on private funders who are most likely scam artists.

I am in the process of applying to Universities right now. And I was wondering how much financial aid I should expect to see if not none. I am currently filed as a dependent with my parents, but I plan on being removed and file as an independent. My annual income as of right now is around $12,500 and I pay $600 in rent as well as everything else in my life and I am also a full time student at a Junior College. My parents are not going to help me pay for school at all, but are the schools still going to view their income? Also, would they even consider me an independent if I was removed from my parent's tax claim recently? If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it. I am completely at a loss here, it's my first time moving away and transferring to a university. I really am not sure how I am going to pay for all this…..

I did the FAFSA thing, my EFC is 6113 and my tuition this semester isn't even that much, does that mean I'm not getting any help from them? I'm also looking for any website or other place I can apply or talk to someone about applying for grants and/or scholarships. I'm worried I won't the money by the time tuition is due in a month! :(
