I know each of the military branches offer ROTC scholarships if you agree to serve a certain amount of time with the military. My mom has a friend who's son attended college 20 years ago on an Army ROTC scholarship and is now a major in the Army Reserves. I will mention some free resources in locating college tuition money.

First, complete the FAFSA form even if you think your parents made too much money. It needs to be completed each year until you graduate from college. It will qualify you for the need based scholarships from the endowment fund, work study program, and the Pell Grant if your EFC is below 4300. It becomes available January 1 for the upcoming fall semester. This needs to be completed each year until you graduate from college.

Second, your high school guidance office has a list of local scholarships. This type of scholarship is typically easier to get than the national ones.

Third, search Google.com and Yahoo.com for college grants and scholarships from your state. Some states reward good grades. Many states offer grants for college students who meet certain income requirements.

Fourth, the local public library has a book listing scholarships with some not even listed on the web.

Finally, join several free membership scholarship search websites. You enter a profile, and it will search for college scholarships matching your profile. I recommend applying for every scholarship you qualify for consideration. There is a scholarship for almost anything including wearing duct tape to the prom.

Good luck!
