I was under the impression that my husband had his school expenses covered completely by grants. Come to find out we are now yet another $4000 in debt that is NOT in our budget to repay. Everything else is always so far behind there is no way I can get another $150 a month out now-$300 once he finishes and has to begin repaying BOTH loans.

No, there are no grants out there to cover student loans unless in certain professions such as teaching in a city or entering the nursing profession. However, there are programs out there that you can volunteer a certain amount of time, not a small amount of time either, a year to take money off of your student loans. A final option is to consolidate the student loans when he graduates and extend the payment period. I have included some readings below on finding the volunteer programs.
