I'm trying to find legitimate places that I could find grants and places that will give scholarships for college. If anyone has good resources, that'd be very helpful.
Thanks

I am single mom with 16yr old son who graduates from hs next school year. He plans to go to college in the fall of 2009. I have no money to pay for his education. I barely make ends meet today. School counselor says that even though I'm broke, I'm still receiving income. No one understand that all $$ goes to bills etc. Father been absent since day 1 so no child support. My parents no longer file for income tax return because they're both retired and on social security. Would my son's chances increase to qualify for college grants if I say he lives with my parents? I would not claim him in my tax return to avoid possible problems. What do you think?

I'm a 21yr old stay at home mom. I'm thinking about going to cosmotology school, but I'm not sure where I need to start the process with the whole grants, etc. What do I need to do other than find a school, I've done that much.

so i have a problem w/ school. i have this class that i wnat to drop, but i don't know if its too late. i'm totally gone from that class, i don't know anything, totally bomb on da first test, and might do the same on the next, cuz i've been so lost. i can't afford to fail. all the dates to withdraw, and get refunds are passed, so i don't know. a reason i don't know if i can drop it is, i get a grant, and i need a certain amount of credit for that grant. i dont' want it to mess up my aid, or i guess i'm asking will it mess up aid. we're almost half done w/ the semester.....idk....so confused

I am talking about private loans.
Say I am getting a $20,000 unverified private loan with an interest rate of prime(7.75). What will this loan be in 1 year with no payments? I am struggling with exactly how to figure this out.
I am looking at putting my federal loans in a high yield savings account as being a nurse they will be paid after a while of working.
I know this question is kind of scattered, but so is my head right now.

I am a cosigner on student loan, and the borrower is not paying, and I have no contact with him. What can I do to try to get the borrower to pay? Someone mentioned suing by filing a small claims. What are the risks with that? I've been making payments, but is there no way to get the actual borrower to take responsiblity?

I am a 22 year old who pays her own tuition without the help of financial aid. A 34 year old non-working, divorced stay at home mom I know went to the same school as me, she got full financial aid, PLUS she recieved extra money from them every semester. This woman already gets tons of money from her ex every month, so it's not like she's impoverished!
I am barely getting by on my small income and I don't get aid because I am under the age of 25, and I'm not married or have kids. Until I am 25, or married, or have kids, I cannot recieve aid as an individual--until then I have to use my parents when applying for aid, and I won't get aid using them, they make too much money.
I live in Pennsylvania if that helps. Can someone please give me some advice?? Is there something I am missing out on? Can I can get around the system?

i'm going to college next month and i need a private student loan that can cover my living expenses. i live in new york and it is much easier winning the lottery than getting a part-time job. what bank would you recommend for this type of loan.

Banks ask for personal/collateral security for educational loan. Affluent families avail bank loan because the rate of interest is low. They produce whatever form of security the bank demands. Can an applicant, who cannot satisfy this demand too get a nationalised bank's consideration for loan?

I didn't get to graduate due to the loss of a loved one, set me in a downward spiral because I didnt' know how to handle it and now I wan't to go back. The problem is that I don't have the money to pay for a new course and I have to start paying back my student loan. I already used osap and don't think that I can get it again as I am working full time and my fiance is also. We just had a baby and she is on maternity leave which is cutting her pay so the income I make is needed. I really need out of my current job now due to the stress levels, it is making me miserable but I don't see any other options. Is school an option for me or am I stuck?

I have 60K in student loans. 30K in private loans and another 30K in federal loans.

Right now, I only make 25K a year but my employeer is paying for my master's degree.

How can I possibly pay all this money back w/o being broke every month. Right now, I live with my parents. But, eventually, I would like to move out.

I have a car payment, plus other bills/insurance etc.......

I think I can afford about $400 a month. But, that will take me about 12-13 years to pay off. That's way too long. I'd like to pay them all off within 5-7 years.

What do people think? How can I make this possible.

Getting a second job is out. I already work full-time and attend school at night.

im a 2nd year under grad, and I have come to a point where I need to get a student loan. I'm looking to get a loan to cover living expenses, not tuition. Im 18, and dont have credit. I have applied for private student loans with Bank of America, and Sallie Mae. Both have turned me down, saying that I would qualify with a cosigner only. I dont really want to ask anyone to co sign, however I do have a trust fund, which is for an amount greater than I am requesting the loan for. Because of the trust's requirements, I can not have that money until I am 21, so it can not help me right now. Is there anyway I can use that as collateral to get a student loan without a cosigner?
(I have also applied for federal loans, Im just waiting to hear back from the finaid office about how much would be available.)
