Go to work instead, but your pool of jobs that you are qualified for will be very limited. In today's competitive job market, a person with an education is much more likely to get the job, even if it does not require a college education, while most better-paying jobs are going to require a degree or certificate, therefore putting you out of the running in the first place.

It is a statistical fact that the higher the degree you have, the higher your pay will be (on average). Getting a higher education is investing in your future. Be grateful that a higher education is easily offered in the United States and take advantage of that privilege!

If you decide that a university is not right for you, even attending your local community college and obtaining a vocational certificate (such as a certificate in office skills, mechanics, etc.) can help you get a much better job in the future. (Be careful of private technical schools though, they can be very expensive! I reccommend a community college. You can get the same education, if not better, than a private trade school for much much cheaper!)

Flip burgers or be incredibly smart enough to invent something super-useful.

When people say college, they always think of a 4 year school. You can also go to trade school and learn some sort of skill. You are not going to make any kind of living wage without either a skill or a piece of paper from a 4 year school. Learn a skill if you don't want to go to a 4 year.

There are hundreds of jobs you can do. Learn a valuable skill in Carpentry, electronics, plumbing and many more that pay as well as any college drgreed job. Yes, somebody has to do it. I retired at 50 simply because I worked 30 years as a union carpenter , I own my own home free and clear and have a garage full of toys paid in full as well. College isn't always the answer. It's usually an excuse to avoid going out in the world and supporting yourself for 4 to 8 years and living off your parents and student loans.
