does anyone know a family of five should be earning in order to have scholarships? whats the scale ? what else in the family income is taken in to consideration.I have two kids going off to college this coming year 08. any important info is good.

There is no simple answer for this. I recommend completing the FAFSA form even if you think your family makes too much money for financial aid help. I have only come across one person who was not qualified, and he was a very rare exception to the rule. The FAFSA utilizes a percentage based formula to determine need. It takes into consideration your income and savings (at a higher rate than your parents) along with their income and savings. If you are a current high school student, you might want to check out the guidance office because there are some wonderful local scholarships (best chance to get them compared to national ones) and state grant programs.
