I've heard in various tv and radio ads that there are government grants available that can be used to assist in paying bills if you are unable to pay them. I am a single father that has a very large child support payment, that added to a recent increase in my ARM has led me down a road where I am having a lot of problems in paying everything, and still having enough for food and gas........are these grants really available and how do I gain access??

I have gotten all federal loans I gualify for? I got preapproved through Salie Mae but my school denied funding. They said I was not eleigible for anymore needed to apply for a higher tier loan...Sallie Mae says I need co-signer for this. I have no co-signer. Divorced mother of three working on Bachelors Degree desperately need private student loan...online student and computer not working...need new one...using a borrowed laptop at this time. Also need to purchase other supplies.

Alrite I'am about to apply for financial aid but my dad died when I was younger...My mom got re-married a year ago and now my mom's husband, my two brothers, and myself all live together. My step dad did not adopt me and I am not legally binded to him in any way, but he does make a nice salart(6 digits) Will this affect how much money I get when I apply for FAFSA?

I've repected people who were on welfare but I never thought of needing it until now. I'm getting a divorce soon and I just got interviewed for a job and I have my daughter. Ok so i live with my boyfriend of 4 years we lived together for 2.I dropped out of highschool and recieved my g.e.d. now I want to go to college.But the catch is I dont have money and i am in debt,just a little.Financial aid wont let me get anything because they said some stuff of where I need to be 24 or be married to qualify.You guys are probably thinking use your parents, but my parents cut me off when I was 15 years old. So i dont know what to do,everything i need you need a cosigner.I dont know what to do.I just want to go to college.

If i'm currently doing 12 credits, to make me a full time student, and then withdrwaing from a class that would make me become a 8 credit student. will this effect my financial aid or anything? obviously other than wasting the money i allready spent on the class cause its too late to get a refund

I'm attend a community college in california. My first year in college, I found out that my cumulative GPA is 1.97 and in order to recieve financial aid my GPA needs to to be 2.0 and above. Is it even possible for me to get financial aid by just a few points away? What should I do? They send me a petition for reinstatement of financial aid. I'll have to fill that out, but what exactly should I state to get approval from the appeal commitee?

I'm not going to lie. The main reason for my GPA to be below 2.0 is mostly because I wasn't trying my best. The second reason is because of my lazyness. The third reason is because of family isssue that I have to dealt with, causing me to be depress.

My son will go to college next year but up to now we havent applied yet for a scholarship to any college or university closeby. THis is my ist time to apply since he's my eldest.. I'm a sophomore in high school and i have a 4.0. I've only taken the ACT once and I made a 26. I take every honors class offered at my high school and was the valedictorian of my elementary school. I play volleyball and run track. I am on student council. My future career plan is in plastic surgrery. my question is do you think i could get accepted and possibly get a scholarship to the University of Tennessee?
