Do they give it to anyone that applies for it or do you have to have certain things to qualify for it? I applied for it and I was wondering if I had a chance of actually getting the loan money. I'm trying to go back to school.

I have been going to a school but took that past semester or two off. And I have done the fafsa. I have also been in contact with the school about this as well. Just wondering.

There are two types of Stafford Loans: Subsidized and Unsubsidized. Subsidized Stafford Loans are awarded to students who exhibit financial need. The good thing about them is that the government pays your interest for them as long as you stay enrolled in school, so you will have less to pay back after you graduate. You can read more about them here:

Unsubsidized Stafford Loans are awarded to all students, regardless of financial need. The bad thing is that you have to pay the interest on them while you are in school. You can read more here:

It's always best to choose a Subsidized Stafford loan!

You have to be accepted into a program of study and be in good standing and you have to be enrolled full or half time. These loans are not based on income or need and are available to anyone. Go to www.FAFSA.ed.gov and fill out the form online. Then start applying to colleges.
