i was wondering if they will give you both they will give me a full pell grant but its not a whole lot and i need other stuff for scholl after the classes are paid like laptop transportation living expenses ect..

you can get a pell grant and another loan too. I did as an undergraduate. The other loan has to be paid back after graduation. You will never get enough to take care of all you are wanting to so I would suggest that you also get a part time job.

Any financial aid you receive through FAFSA is used directly for your school tuition and any other fees (i.e. room, board, lab fees, etc.) This includes loans through FAFSA as well.

However, if you apply for a loan through a bank you can use that money for whatever you like. The process can be a bit tedious sometimes. And depending on if someone claims you on their taxes, your age, job status you might need a co-signer for it. You also need a good reason for the bank to loan you the money and have to be able to pay it back within a time frame.
