I am a single mom and I currently taking university and my loans are ALOT as I need over $2 000 a month for living expenses for my kids on top of tution. WHen I am done university and working, I will have 4-6 years of loans to pay back and I will still be taking in more money after paying loans than I am used too. So if people can still live comfortabely and pay off loans, why the pressure to save for the kids college fund?

Ok, I am in my second year at the University of Memphis and I was staying at a dorm my first semester but that didn't work out (My roommate was smoking crack and weed in my room and the cops caught him and he didnt get kicked out so I moved back home). The thing is that I am basically cutting myself off from my parents because of personal problems and I have to move into an apartment. However, I have a car note and bills that I have to pay along with the rent and utilities. My dad makes an *** load of money so I was really limited on how much I could get from federal loans the first year but now Im moving out I dont have his help. Does that mean I can get more money from fed loans or what? I am at a loss for what to do and I have to be out by Jan. 1st. I have NO IDEA what needs to be done and this is without a doubt the worst holiday season of my freaking life... If anyone has sugestions about other loans I could get or anything please help me out.

Thanks,
Grant

I am a freshman at a local junior college and receive 9k a year with 12+ units. I was wondering if I would possibly get more if I re do my paperwork information because this month I turned 18 so my mom is no longer helping me and I will be living on my own (or with my boyfriend) by the 30th of this month because she is moving out also. Is it possible for me to be a fulltime student and receive enough money to not need a job?

I am a retired College Teacher. I did guide/coach many students without taking any FEES.I did support many students by providing with plenty of Books which they needed, but, most of them did not return those copies ,although , it was a precondition to give back all these Books to me as soon as the exams were over for the benefit of other students.I did pay the Monthly Fees of many students throughout my career as Teacher.
I retired on 31st may,2004 when I was 60 years of age as per Teaching Service Rules of my state.
No pensionary benefit is available to Teachers of this State ,except a token lump sum of Rupees Two Lak (max).I did recieve that amount and now I am 62 + with which I survived so far.
I have no Apartment , no regular source of income and I have been suffering from Hypertension; Hyper acidity; Insomnia;Diabetes & mentally terribly upset . I find no hope to earn money through any means at this age to support my wife who is not keeping well.
HELP PLEASE.....

My husband is a disabled veteran. He applied for SSD about two years ago and is finnally going to start getting it. My question is first will his kids also get a lump sum for the back pay and second will it go to their mother or us? I only ask this because I have been paying over $ 1000.00 dollers a month to cover his child support for the last two years and I don't think their mother would save the money for them anyway. My husband and I would like to use it to start a college fund for them.

I went to a private college in Iowa for my freshman year of college. I transferred to a public university in Wisconsin my sophomore year because I could no longer afford private school. Upon transferring, I still had a large amount of loans to pay off from school in Iowa, but I didn't have to pay them off until I completed college. After my junior year in Wisconsin, I took a year off from school. Despite having loans and grants, I could not afford to pay for schooling anymore. So I'm now working a job to earn money and pay the Wisconsin school back. I would like to return to school again (at the same Wisconsin school as before). I know I have to clear bills at the Wisconsin school to be able to return to it. However I recently recieved bills from the school in Iowa. So my question is ..... do I have to pay off the school in Iowa too before I return to the one in Wisconsin?

I'm a full-time college student recieving, PELL, TAP, & Stafford loans but I still fall short. My parents can't afford to take out a parent loan for me, nor can they pay any of my college costs. So I have a signature student loan from Sallie Mae, but after the school takes their cut, I'm still falling short and with a field studies trip next semester I'm worried about money for the next semester.

Can someone recommend me another alternative for more cash so I can pay any possible unforeseen costs (my car is about to go). I was looking into private student loan alternatives, but the interest rates seem OUTRAGEOUS.

What are my options, I am looking to borrow ~$3000.

I have 3 young adults all wanting to go to college. They are all under the age of 25. I would like to know, besides the obvious student loans, is there anyway for them to get into college? Because we claimed them last year they do not qualify for pell grants either. They will all be living on their own and supporting themselves come next year. Their choice, and moving out of state to top it off. I don't know what to do.....sad, frustrated, confused......scary stuff to see them walk through.

i'm about to apply to graduate school...like everyone i have the choice to either stay in-state or out-of-state. the thing is i think it would be better for me to stay in state and also near my home for financial reasons [because come on tuition is not the only thing i'll be paying and for graduate programs you will have to take loans]. but people keep telling me to go out-of-state and just get a bigger loan and just pay it later...that sounds good but for some reason it seems irresponsible to me..i dont know maybe i'm over-thinking about this...what would YOU do if you were in my shoes???

I am a senior in high school, and have been applying for scholarships and colleges like crazy. Everytime I come upon a scholarship that asks for my SSN, I cringe. I have heard so many horror stories about identity theft that I just want to make sure it is safe. Is it safe to enter your SSN online for scholarships and college applications?

i have recieved the grants and loans from my LEA.

i live with my partner and he is also a student.

today is my last day at university until after christmas i expect .

my partner is continuing to do his studying as his course is more intense than mine and i can pick up where i left off after christmas (although i have done all work neede up til beginning of december)

here are the circumstances in more detail.

both live in private rented accomodation

both students

partner works just a few hours a week because of course commitments.

just wondering if anybody know what kind of benefits etc we could be entitled to.

we are very reluctant to use the benefit system but cirrcumstances have led us to veiw all options.

we plan on being in full time employment within 2 years and so feel we will pay back what we get given.

thanks in advance

I just found out my school I’ve been going to for the past quarter is not accredited for the degree I'm pursuing. They failed to tell me that little fact. I found out through the grapevine, and then confirmed it with the Academic office. Turns out that's true.
So now I want to get out, and go to a better school down the street..that just so happens to be a cheaper and IS accredited.

My question is...I took already took out a Federal Stafford Loan with this school, will it transfer with me to the other school? Or will I need to cancel this one and start a new one at the new school. And can I even start a new one if I had one already?

I'm a university student who has only cosigned loans and some part time work (less than 1000 dollars this year) as income (which I don't think counts). I don't file tax returns, but my utility companies want some proof for their discounts.
