I am a freshman at a local junior college and receive 9k a year with 12+ units. I was wondering if I would possibly get more if I re do my paperwork information because this month I turned 18 so my mom is no longer helping me and I will be living on my own (or with my boyfriend) by the 30th of this month because she is moving out also. Is it possible for me to be a fulltime student and receive enough money to not need a job?

If your parents are seperating, it could help possibly depending on her income. However, you will still not be considered an independent student even moving out of the house. You have to be 24 years old, military veteran, married, graduate student, or have a child. Your financial aid package might increase since it is per credit at a number of community colleges, but each situation is different. An idea might be to do the campus work study program. I will include some free resources below. Good luck!

I don't know tht, but what I would suggest, is start looking into schlarships, they will help. Try looking at those that don't require a whole lot of writing. But of course, you will also need a decent GPA to qualify.

well technically you are not an independent until you are 24 years old, the only REAL exceptions are if you were in Foster Care, or if you're parents pass away. Even if your parents aren't helping you! It really SUX!!!
