The best advice I once read about locating scholarships was utilizing more than one approach to locate a scholarship. The other piece of advice I have is to apply for every scholarship you qualify for consideration. However, if you are searching for scholarships for the upcoming spring semester or quarter, it is too late to find them because all the applications are for the fall 2008 term. I will include three different free approaches to locate college scholarships.

First, high school students should go to the high school guidance office because they have a list of local scholarships. These are typically the easiest to get.

Second, the local public library has a bool listing scholarships with some not even listed on the web.

Third, search Google.com and Yahoo.com for college scholarships or grants from your state based on grades.

Finally, join several free scholarship search websites. You enter a profile, and it will search for scholarships matching your profile. There is a scholarship for almost anything out there.

Good luck!
