My hard drive seems like it's always busy doing something even when the computer is not in use. How can I tell (with freeware) what is causing it to access all the time?

......what would you take with you?

You're leaving your home, your family, your job, your friends....everything! But you get to take these four items. What would they be?

I've just borrowed some cds from the library, transferred them onto my pc, and I'm listening to them through a headset using windows media player. I've got the volume control turned up as far as it will go on media player - that's the sliding triangle type of control. It's only just loud enough and I want it louder. But the sliding triangle is over to the right as far as it will go. I could make the sound louder by taking off the headset and using the knob on the speakers but I don't want to use speakers - I want to use headphones (for various reasons, family members etc). Anyway, I've been into control panel settings and maxed the volume there but it's hardly made any difference.

Surely there's something more I can do to get the sound louder in my headphones?

Thanks.

I met a girl at dancing classes. I like her. We enjoy dancing together and have a good time. I thought she likes me until today. Today I walked with her a good while after the dancing ended. I found out that we have some common passions. She told me a lot of stuff about her, actually she was speaking the most. She also told me about a club where is retro music and said she wants to go there but she doesn't have with who to go. When I was about to leave I asked her if she would like to go to that club this week and she said that she doesn't promise me anything.. she will let me know and she has to ask some coleagues of her to come too. Also, she said that she is very busy with school saying that she has papers to do and she will start the driving school... and then we said good night, mentioning that we will meet at the next dance class. I guess this is rejection? I need to know if it worths to give another try or to leave her alone. I know that she's single.

My Toshiba Portege won't turn on.

I keep pressing the power switch but nothing happens.

The batteries are fully charged and the power cable is inserted.

I don't know what's going on.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

A young couple got married and left on their honeymoon.
When they got back, the bride immediately called her mother.
"Well, how was the honeymoon?" asked the mother.
"Oh mamma!" she exclaimed. "The honeymoon was wonderful! So romantic!"
No sooner had she spoken the words than she burst out crying. "But mamma . . . as soon as we returned, Sam started using the most horrible language. He's been saying things I've never heard before! All these awful 4-letter words! You've got to come get me and take me home... please mamma!"
"Now Sarah . . ." her mother answered. "Calm down! Tell me, what could be so awful? What 4-letter words has he been using?"
"Please don't make me tell you, mamma." wept the daughter.
"I'm so embarrassed! They're just too awful! You've got to come get me and take me home... please mamma!"
"Darling, baby, you must tell me what has you so upset!
Tell your mother these horrible 4-letter words!"

A diverse group of priests from the Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago joined the immigration debate Friday, calling for the suspension of nonfelony deportations until more "compassionate" laws and policies are implemented for undocumented residents.

Recently I find myself very attracted to her. She's a lesbian. She doesn't know I’m a lesbian, I myself don't know too until recently I find that she's been on my mind very often.

I don't know how to tell her or make the move. I don't even know if I should make a move. I'm afraid that it'll spoil whatever we have now.

I feel like just kissing her and ignore everything but I'm afraid that I’ll freak her out as she's my teacher, though we behave like friends and I’ve recently graduated. It seems almost impossible to be anything more, I think all I am to her is a student whom she's closer too, talks more to… there are other students like me who has her phone number and go out with her...

How do i tell her that i'm attracted to her? Should I?

my only daughter has suddenly given me 3 months notice of her forthcoming wedding in Australia to a man I have met once only. She hopes I will contribute to costs and give her away. I love her dearly but don't know how I can afford to pay towards wedding and fares/expenses to Australia as well, plus loss of income while away as I have little savings. It seems unfair that I have had no say in any arrangements and little time to prepare or save up. The ex seems reluctant to contribute either saying I should use my credit card! Should I pay and not attend or is my presence there the most important thing? Should I take out a loan and stuff the consequences? The date was fixed to co-incide with her mother's pre-arranged trip out there but I feel my circumstances were not taken into consideration. Am I being selfish? Will I regret not going for the rest of my life?

Should I be inclined to take her home, or is it up to her to take a cab back home. I assume she is taking a cab, because she doesn't want to drink and drive. I'm not driving 30 min. to take her home, esspecially when I've been drinking. She is the one who told me she is taking a cab to meet me in the first place, so should she take one back home?? What If she wants me to drive her home?? Heck I will take her to my place down the street, have her sleep in my bed, while I sleep on the couch. Then I can drive her home in the morning. Is that a goos idea??

Sorry, don't mean to be rude here, it's just my daughter-in-law asked me where this expression came from. Now I'm curious. Is it just a U.K. thing or do people in other countries hear this? Also, what other phrases do you know that mean really drunk?

What is a normal pulse rate?

My doctor tells me that my heart is a little faster then normal, but it's nothing to worry about. But when I wake up the past few days, it's been racing. It only lasts a few min though.
