I liked this part of the article best of all,but then I support the border enforcement 100%
Meanwhile in Chicago, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office announced Friday the arrests of 16 immigration fugitives as part of the Department of Homeland Security's Secure Border program. Thirteen of the 16 have criminal convictions such as robbery, drunken driving, fraud and illegal possession of a firearm, ICE spokeswoman Gail Montenegro said.
"ICE is responsible for enforcing more than 400 immigration and customs statutes as they're currently written and we will continue to do so," Montenegro said.
And we shall continue to do so.

My last US history class was a long time ago, but that was was fought about 1830 or 1840, right? I'm pretty sure that we have a new pope by now, and that church policy might have changed a bit by then. This probably has more to do with the church's position on being compassionate and forgiving rather than the fact that they liked the mexicans over 150 years ago.

I think the Catholics should stick to saving souls and leave the business of running the country to the elected officials. There is a reason for separation of Church and State. The heart (and soul) do not always use logic and history to strive for the best of the nation. Run the country with your mind, run your home with your heart.

Of course we need total separation of church and state.Separation of ALL religions from the state not just one.
The Catholic Church is looking out for it's interest. It's population base is shrinking all over Europe and the USA.It is only growing in Mexico, central ,south America and Africa.

No worse than Catholics advocating for the repeal of abortion laws or publishing an election guide in 2004. Maybe religion should stay out of politics entirely??

The Catholic Church supports immigration reform on the basis of Holy Scripture, human rights and human dignity.
You shall not oppress an alien; you well know how it feels to be an alien, since you were once aliens yourselves in the land of Egypt. (Exodus 23:9)
The emigre Holy Family of Nazareth, fleeing into Egypt, is the archetype of every refugee family. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, living in exile in Egypt to escape the fury of an evil king, are, for all times and all places, the models and protectors of every migrant, alien and refugee of whatever kind who, whether compelled by fear of persecution or by want, is forced to leave his native land, his beloved parents and relatives, his close friends, and to seek a foreign soil. (Exsul Familia, Pope Pius XII, 1952)
"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" (The Statue of Liberty)
The earth, this country, everything we have are gifts from God, which we are called to share with our brothers and sisters in Christ.
With love in Christ.

You shall not murder.
You shall not commit adultery.
You shall not steal.
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
You shall not covet your neighbor's wife.
You shall not covet your neighbor's house...
Well those are some of the ten commandments we as people are meant to live by, I can see illegals clear as day breaking two & the rest have been done by a large ammount of illegals.
Priests need to stay out of it, They have broken the law,
They need deportation. End of story.
