Due to my husband’s possible job transfer, we are considering moving to the following cities:

Ft. Lauderdale
Jacksonville
Miami
Orlando
Vero Beach
West Palm Beach
I’m looking for any and all information about these cities that current residents can offer. Some information I’m looking for is:
Is this city mostly urban, suburban, rural or a mix?
What can be expected of weather at various times of the year?
What can be said of the cost of living in this city? How can it be compared with Southern Connecticut?
Which city would you prefer to live in yourself and why?
What are the most significant pros and cons of these cities?

We come from an area that offers urban living very close to rural areas, with a wide variety of weather so we're kind of spoiled as far as having our options open. I hope not to live in an area that gets too hot- or at least not humid. Urban areas are best but we hope to be in a safe neighborhood. We don't have much money so low cost of living is a priority.

Going to Vegas with hubby the week between Christmas and New Years. We planned on staying at MGM but now could stay at the Monte Carlo for a few hundred bucks cheaper. I don't really care about the room because I'm not usually in the room much, but hubby isn't much of a gambler and likes to lounge around the room and watch tv when I gamble. So, we want a comfortable room. Anyone stayed at both and can compare? By the way, we've stayed at Luxor and LOVED it, but wanted to try something else. Any help appreciated.

In your area, are there poisonous snakes, spiders, alot of ticks...? We are thinking about moving out West and have four dogs. Where do you live and what is the worst "thing" out there that you encounter often? Thanks for all your help.

We may need to drive from Oregon to San Francisco and back around Thanksgiving and are a little concerned about possible snow or icy conditions on I-5 in northern CA that time of year. We are also considering taking an alternative route, down I-5 to Grants Pass, OR and cutting over to Hwy101 via Route 199 (Redwood Highway).

I'm looking for opinions from folks who've actually made this type of trip in November or who live in the area and know how it gets. Does SR199 suck to drive? Does I-5 get bad through that area? What would you recommend (besides flying or Amtrak, lol)? Thanks.

I need about two fulltime jobs, one day and one night. But right now a night position first is preferable. Too much drama here. The question is, out of experience, what are some TRUTHFULLY fulltime jobs (entry positions) around about San Antonio? I'm looking for $7.50 hourly minimum. Almost six years stocking experience, five of that sales experience.

Are there any towns similar to Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls in California? Like fun, nice towns where alot of people get to know each other? Ecspecially maybe around the San Diego area or Southern California. Not little dumpy towns though!

I just got home from a vacation to Maui, and it made me realize how much I love the ocean. I'm considering the Orlando area as there are a lot of hotels there and that is my work background. I was wondering if anyone on here knows how hard it is to get those kind of hotel jobs (office area, management, etc.) and where you would recommend around the Orlando area for safe areas but where I can still at least see the ocean. Would be willing to do apartments at first until I get my feel for the area. Thanks!!
