Due to my husband’s possible job transfer, we are considering moving to the following cities:

Ft. Lauderdale
Jacksonville
Miami
Orlando
Vero Beach
West Palm Beach
I’m looking for any and all information about these cities that current residents can offer. Some information I’m looking for is:
Is this city mostly urban, suburban, rural or a mix?
What can be expected of weather at various times of the year?
What can be said of the cost of living in this city? How can it be compared with Southern Connecticut?
Which city would you prefer to live in yourself and why?
What are the most significant pros and cons of these cities?

We come from an area that offers urban living very close to rural areas, with a wide variety of weather so we're kind of spoiled as far as having our options open. I hope not to live in an area that gets too hot- or at least not humid. Urban areas are best but we hope to be in a safe neighborhood. We don't have much money so low cost of living is a priority.

Assuming you live in New Haven as opposed to say, Greenwich ---, Jax or Orlando will be closest to what you now have, except everything in O'town will seem like it was built yesterday compared to NH. As I recall Conn. is populated by people whose families have been there for generations. Everybody in Fla. is from somewhere else. Vero Beach is little more than a coastal beach town; West Palm just a step or two above that. Jax & Orlando suburbs will be lowest cost. Miami will be most expensive & is mostly Spanish except in the NE corner. EVERYTHING in Fla. is considerably more hot & humid than Conn. Before you make the change, suggest you visit. It will be a big change.

Northern Palm Beach County - Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter area. It's mostly suburban and you'll feel right at home with everyone else from CT. It's newer but very safe and not as expensive as Miami or FtL. But it is more expensive than Jax or Orlando. But the weather is better as well. Jax gets cold in the winter, Orlando is way too hot in the summer. We get a little chill maybe twice a year and it's about 5 degrees cooler than even West Palm and especially south of WPB. We get the ocean nearby with beaches that aren't overcrowded and actually get some waves to surf somewhat regularly (at least in winter).
Miami and FtL are too crowded and expensive and you have to be very careful or you end up in a not so nice area. Much fewer bad places north of West Palm Beach. Just stay out of Riviera Beach. The cons would be the insurance costs and home prices and HOA fees. But you'll be used to some of that coming from CT.

Well, Jacksonville is really nice. We are a BUSINESS city, not an attraction one. Well, gas, housing, and all other money is cheaper here than in other cities. We have an okay city bus system. We have an NFL team, a minor league basketball, baseball, and ice hockey team. We have like 850,000-900,000 people here and like 1,300,000 metro wise. Areas good to live at are Southside, Mandarin, Arlington, and the Beaches. All these areas are predominately white but have TERRIBLE traffic. Adding to the traffic are road construction, which aren't due to finish till 2010. Most parts of the Westside are good, with some ghetto areas. The Northside is pretty much ghetto. Orange Park is a nice suburb but has terrible traffic as most military families who work at a nearby Naval Base live there. Some schools are good, some are bad.....If you have any questions, just e-mail me.

Orlando, Lakeland is not to far from there, i hear it is nice there. Miami is full of hispanic heritage, sometimes I feel a person should know a little spanish before moving there.

West Palm Beach is not bad - I feel Boca - north of Fort Lauderdale is pretty nice. Def try there.

Def take a visit - weather is hot and muggy mostly all year (umm its FL - Hello). Pretty much OPPOSITE of what you have in NH.

I'd stay away from South FL all together, but if you HAVE to move out here.. I'd stay away from Ft Lauderdale.. LOTS of crime. I HATE it. Not a place for families in my opinion. the weather is horrible too. ALWAYS hot and muggy, so nasty!!

The schools are horrible.. at least where I am (Margate)

maybe from living in CT, you may enjoy it out here. I am from California, and miss it more every single day.

If a million/2 the family members approves of the flow, and it relatively is greater low-value for a greater more suitable room, i could say, choose for it. Getting greater for his money could be an progression to his life. Now how with regard to the nutrients? Are they finished nutrients or snacks. Do they get fruit on a daily basis. And what approximately pill dispension. Is somebody in value of that, to get rid of blunders. some places have the overseeing of an RN. yet additionally many places won't be able to take care of to pay for the centers. And does the dispenser of the pills, placed on rubber gloves for sanitary motives? there is plenty to contemplate till now you displace him. determine he can take care of the transition, so he would not get afraid after shifting. I also have a pal, who died 2 days after her flow. She became into dealt with badly via group in that wing, and he or she went right into a catatonic state of techniques. And did no longer understand her daughter. and then she died the next day. So weigh issues heavily.
