Is bus system reliable in Los Angeles?

Moving to Los Angeles without a car.

the transit system I would say its manageable you do have sometimes wait for a bus, then the bus might be crowded
and you kind have to know where you are going
but a lot of people use the transit system

Availability and Reliability are two different things. The LA Metro(Bus and Rail) system is fairly reliable. However, because unlike other major cities LA covers an area of about 469 Square Miles it obviously can not have the same Public transportation coverage as you would get in a city such as New York. As such to get around you are going to find having a car not only easier but almost a requirement. As a side note as to your "acting". If you think you are going to come to LA and be the next superstar you may have to have a dose of reality. There are thousands of people who have done the same thing and are now some of LA's best waiters, waitresses, and chauffeurs. If you do not have a job that will enable you to bring in a minimum of at least $3,000/month you are going to find it extremely tough to survive.

I would advise buying a car and then moving. A car will likely be less expensive where you are at currently and, as mentioned above, public transportation is flawed. There are reasons why there is one registered vehicle per 1.8 people in the metro LA area.

Less so than in most cities. Los Angeles is notorious for its lack of public transportation.

not very reliable in my experience

you have to wait ages for a bus which then only goes a certain distance, then you have to change, wait ages again for the next bus etc
i ended up spending entire afternoons trying to go to one place!!!!!
and you can't really walk either
