I m a new immigrant to USA from Bangladesh (in south asia). I've two kids and my wife with me. I have worked as a senior officer in Budget & Audit Department of Bangladesh for 25 years. My son (19) intends to get admission in a university (preferably in engineering), and my daughter (17) is in class 11. We've decided to move to Woodside, Queens NY because we have a little suppot there. Will it b a good choice for living for my family? In respect of work, study, weather, culture? Please tell me about some other choices.

Queens is the most ethinically diverse borough in NYC, and the most ethnically diverse area in the world. Neighborhoods such as Woodside, Sunnyside, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Astoria now have immigrants from all over the world. Woodside was at once mostly Irish, but in recent years, the neighborhoods I've mentioned have seen an influx of many different cultures. You will find Bangladeshi immigrants mostly in Sunnyside, Woodside, and the "Little India" area of Jackson Heights. If you have support in Woodside like you say, you should be fine.

Actually, I've been a NY'er all my life and I have always found that there is a large contingent of immigrant in Queens. I know for a fact that the Ozone Park and Woodside areas hace many Bangladeshi there.

Woodside has plenty of Irish immigrants. As far as community, Woodside is your typical working class neighborhood. And easy access to Manhattan by the subway.
