I just got home from a vacation to Maui, and it made me realize how much I love the ocean. I'm considering the Orlando area as there are a lot of hotels there and that is my work background. I was wondering if anyone on here knows how hard it is to get those kind of hotel jobs (office area, management, etc.) and where you would recommend around the Orlando area for safe areas but where I can still at least see the ocean. Would be willing to do apartments at first until I get my feel for the area. Thanks!!

Since Orlando is too far where would you recommend that is safe and within driving distance to Orlando? Thanks!

Orlando is 50 miles from the closest Beach. (Cocoa Beach) Most of the beaches nearest Orlando are built up with condos and homes, not so many hotels. Some are pristine with no buildings at all (Playalinda). But Daytona Beach (about 60 miles) has many hotels. I would recommend Daytona Beach if you wanted to work in the hotel industry and live close to the ocean.
West coast beaches (about 100 miles west of Orlando) Clearwater, St. Petersburg have plenty of hotels too.
But if you must work in Orlando and live at the beach, then about the only option is Cocoa Beach - 50-70 mile commute one way depending on where you live and where you work.

I live right outside Orlando, relocated here from New York. If you have experience in the hotel and hospitality industry, this is one of the best places to be. Disney World alone has over 20 resorts, and there are literally hundreds more hotels in the area.
I live southeast of Orlando. Any mailing address in Orlando is either going to be very shady or very expensive. There are two areas south of Orlando but within commuting distance of the tourist areas (where the hotels are) called Clermont and Davenport. I have lived in both, and while they have their not-so-great areas, they are quite reasonable and safe, as well as a quick commute to Disney. And if you have hotel experience, you should have NO problems getting a job at Disney. The pay is average for the Orlando area, but the benefits are great. Daytona Beach is less than an hour and a half away: you should be able to get to either coast in under two hours. Orlando is still a lengthy drive to the ocean. There are a variety of cities that are right on the ocean and they are all packed with hotels.
