New York City has five boroughs, all of which are controlled by the same city government, under the mayor. Each borough has its own borough president also. Manhattan is not the "main" borough, but most of the city government is located there. The boroughs are Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island. There are also islands that are part of the city, like Roosevelt Island, which is considered part of New York County, which includes Manhattan.

2. Food - Chinatown, Little Italy, Little Odessa, Washington Heights, Jackson Heights, Katz's Deli.
3. Shopping - Herald Square, SoHo, Canal Street, Albee Square Mall, Kings Plaza, Queens Center Mall, Fordham Road.
4. Tourist Attractions - Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Carnegie Hall, Central Park, United Nations, Ellis Island, South Street, Broadway, Times Square, Lincoln Center, etc.
5. Urban Exploration - Lots of underground train stations that are closed to the public, the water tunnels, under the United Nations, under Roosevelt Island, under Central Park, the lighthouse under the GW Bridge, Hart Island, Fort Totten, etc.

Rock and Mineral Shops. Hard to find almost anywhere, but they have a couple of good ones in BIG APPLE and one of the best in Manhattan is called ROCK STAR CRYSTALS. So many crystals stacked ceiling to small this place looks like a shining jewel. www.rockstarcrystalsmanhattan.com
