On a recent trip to San Antonio I went on a Ghost and Legends tour the lady told me that Santa Anna told his men to get cannons and destroy the Alamo but they would not because they said they saw 3 Ghost with Flames appeart.....can anyone give me a better idea on why they didnt tear down the alamo?

Friends of mine (a couple in their mid 40s) are interested in staying at the recently remodeled Hotel deLuxe in Portland, OR (formerly Mallory Hotel). I haven't stayed there and wondered if anyone has seen the new retro-Hollywood style decor (complete with iPod-compatible alarm clocks in the rooms, according to their Web site). Looks interesting, but I'm looking for input from guests.

I'm spending a few days in San Francisco and thinking about driving down to Santa Cruz and staying overnight. A quick look on TripAdvisor shows some terrible reviews of hotels in the area. Are there any decent ones, preferably under $150 and (although I'd pay $200 for something really nice)? Thanks!

I am going to New York in July, and I am staying on 45th street in Manhattan. I already know about some things to do such as tourist attractions, and so on. However, what I want to see when I go to New York, is the consignment shops, and shops in that nature. So does anybody have any recommendations on some good local shops like that?
