You'll have to drive up to Ventura and take a boat trip from there. A company called Island Packers is the official boat transportation company that operates from there. The first link below talks about the trip to Santa Cruz island, including fare information. It's about a 1 hour trip to get to the island. u could drive a ways up to santa cruz and then go by boat. or u could fly into san jose, then boat or any other way.
