Going over december Jan.. Have accomodation booked for the 24th-4th... But not for the 17th-23rd. Wanted to just find places to stay when I get there, but just concerned things may get booked out,

has 5 days to get his irish p/port stamped (visa) for thailand, from 24/11/07 we leave on 29th!!
any way /procedure of getting this done in time?
thai consulate is in dublin but can they speed up his application?

My boyfriend and i are planning to go to Bangkok early Jan next year. What "must see & do" touristy things should we do? Are there anything in particular we must be aware of or rather beware of? Any particular great places to shop??

I was going to stay at the Oriental or Shangri-la but it seems kind of silly to spend that kind of money since I will be out of the hotel touring the city both of the days I am there. I will really only be in the hotel in the morning and at night.
