the best site there is http://www.visualthailand.com it is commercial and ad free and has 100's if not 1000's of actual photos of thailand, all new, and tons of free useful information about what to see and do. Awesome site!

If you're a beach person, go to Phuket or Koh Samui. If you're a city person, visit Bangkok or Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai is more peaceful in Bangkok and has many sightseeing places. The flora festival is also taking place in Chiang Mai till January.

I suggest you go to www.excelloz.com and read some of the travel guides and you'll get good ideas of places to visit in Thailand. This website also gives everything you need to know about hotels in Thailand so it'll be easy to book your accommodation here.

I would stay home. I got kidnapped in Bangkok many years ago. The kidnappers assumed I was a rich American. Boy were they mistaken. The entire ordeal lasted about 8 hours and ended when I was able to escape when my kidnappers attention had been diverted by another person. I took me almost an hour by taxi to get back to Bangkok.
