Funny, I have been more than half a dozen times and they seem ok to me. May be they WERE talking to you but either you didn't realise that or they weren't speaking english that well you didn't understand what they are saying.

Some tips about taking taxis in BKK:

- ALWAYS ask them to put on the meter. IF you ask for a price to negotiate you will end up paying too much.
- IF you can - ask someone who knows - say, the hotel desk, how much it should cost you to get to where you are going.
- Get someone to write your destination in Thai to show the taxi where to go.

As far as, Victoriousv72's comment "they drive sloww"? Well, it IS Bangkok afterall. The traffic in the city don't move very much. Have you seen them drive on the toll way? I am constantly amazed that they don't get pulled up for speeding!

Hope you enjoy your stay in BKK. It's a great city.

Well, they are probably trying to show you the sights along the way. The Thais are very hospitable, so as most do not speak English, they hope you can catch their drift as they point out things along the way.

There are many taxi drivers in Bangkok. The ones that wait beside the hotel are likely to be waiting to fleece the tourists. But if you hail one from the street, these are the more honest ones just making a living for themselves

So, if you get to your destination correctly and safely, it had been an ok ride. Just take things in your stride. No need to panic.

The Mouse & Peanutz have it right.

One other thing: all traffic in Bangkok is curved - nothing goes in na straight line, ever. Just when you are certain death is immInent - nothing happens, you open your eyes & no problem. The taxi & tuk-tuk drivers know this - they look crazier than they are. remeber that they work & live in this environment every day!
I would be a little nuts if I had to do that!

Good Luck!

The departure time is planned so that businessman can arrive London early in the morning and can go straight to work. The flight time gives passengers more than enough time to take rest, dine and feel fresh when arrive London. Besides, It saves your hotel bill for at least 1 night. Re hotel check out time, you may request for late checkout at most of the hotel up to 14:00. You may leave your luggages at the bell boy or conceige and come back to pick it up prior your leaving for airport say ~ 1900 or 2000 for your midnight flight.

Yes, a few of them are a bit weird. Actually, some of them sing to the music they listen to. If they point out things they are just working you up for being your guide around town. Most are harmless.

Have you ever worked by yourself 10 to 12 hour days? Why do you think so many of the wackos work for the U.S. Post Office?
