Are there any water activities, such as snorkelling, for non-swimmers and inexperienced swimmers to be found in Phuket?

There's jet-skiing, para-sailing, snorkelling, boat tours to nearby islands, and plenty more. If you just head down to the beach, there's people all over the place trying to sell you tickets to stuff.

Have a great time there :-)

Well, there are quite a few activities that you can enjoy as a non-swimmer. For starter, you can go island hopping and see different sights on them. Lovely beaches too. There will be snorkelling in some of the shallow waters in the islands.

At the same time, there is canoeing at some locations too. All these you can make enquiry at the pier. Even island stay out of Phuket.

You have choices, just ask around, or the travel desk in the hotel. Have a good time.

If you are up to something new and exciting. Try learning to scuba dive. Contrary to popular belief you don't have to know how to swim it helps. With the Buoyancy Control Devices(BCD) that you wear with the tanks it is nearly impossible to drown. An air hose connect to BCD and if you are in trouble or tired you fill it up with a separate hose and just bob in the water.

There are a number of qualified PADI dive shops in Phuket to teach you. They will probably teach you the basics in a swimming pool then take you out for a couple ocean dives. it's a great experience. And in looking over the list they seem to have a "Discover Scuba Diving" class which maybe just an intro lesson in the pool or it could be a short dive just off shore. To give you a taste of scuba diving.

If you are in Phuket for a week. You could take a intro course. If it is shorter, then try the "Discover Scuba Diving"

Something different to do. Eh?

Snorkelling - plenty here in Phuket and the sites for marine life are great in the nearby islands. You'll love it!
