Do I need a Thailand visa when I am traveling with US Green card. I am taking a break of 7-8 hrs at BKK. I am travelling with my kids who are US citizens but my spouse and I are not US citizens yet. WE just want to do a bit of sight seeing. Can somebody suggest me how to go about it?

Entrance to any country is based on nationality, not residency. This means it is based on which country's passport you hold, and not a permit you hold for living and working in a third country.

US citizens (passport-holders) are exempt from visa, as they can obtain visit visas at the airport. If your country of nationality is not on the list given above, you will need to apply for a visa. 7-8 hours would mean you need to apply for a transit visa.

The site below is for the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and you should be able to get more information from it.

Good luck with your travels.

You probably can enter visa-free for 30 days if you are from one of the listed countries above. Otherwise visa on arrival can be obtained at the airport.
