I am going to Italy next summer to visit my family in Calabria. Are there any attractions that I should know about? Also we are going to Rome for a week to go to the Colosseum and the Vatican City. I always plan my vacations way ahead. I have been wanting to go to Italy ever since I was a little girl and if you could give me any tips or travel advice to make my vacation extra special, I would really appreciate it. Molto Grazie =]

I want to go for Carnival in February in Salvador da Bahia - if I have to go to Rio etc. first I'll get an internal flight, but what's the cheapest (return ticket) option?? I went with Air France 2 years ago for €700 return, but that offer was only for under 25s.... Thanks!!

My partner & I split time between Harrisburg and Northern NJ. When we travel together we usually flight out of Newark. After our most recent experience we are looking for good alternate airports. So I am seeking recommendations.
Has anyone used any of the following, which I know are options for us: Allentown or Harrisburg in PA, Trenton or Atlantic City in NJ? Any others that would be good alternates that I am not aware of?
We would be travelling within the US only. Mostly to either Tampa or Ft. Myers in Florida (family reasons). We are willing to take stops if it makes the flights better and the airport experience less hectic.

I am flying to Korea next week. The total airtime for the longest portion of the trip will be about 12 hours. I would like to sleep for at least 4-5 of those hours so I won't have to eat my own foot due to lack of entertainment and severe boredom. I have heard a nice strong shot of whiskey will do it. But I am not so sure how I would do being drunk in a kindergarten style chair the airline industry calls a "seat". Can anyone who has some experience in this field recommend a sleeping aid that will knock me out for a few hours but won't make me feel disgusting when I wake up? I would prefer it to be OTC.

And if you also know any tricks on avoiding jet lag- throw some of those in too.

I know that you can go to places in Canada and Europe (maybe Mexico?) directly from Pittsburgh International Airport, but I want to know what cities specifically you can go to.

Hello there. I'm a Type 1 Diabetic with an insulin pump. In a few days, my husband and I will be going on vacation and it will be the first time either of us is on a plane.

I've looked at TSA's website as well as our airlines to see various policies concerning my supplies and medication, but I was just wondering if anyone here who has experience would be kind enough to lend me any advice they might have. We intend to arrive extra early to the airport and ask security to visually check my pump, etc.

Thanks for any and all advice/help. We greatly appreciate it.

I live in South Africa so am only looking for training institutions within my country. So far I have found out how to start off by getting a 'PPL' but it will take too long before I have enough hours to be able to start the next step of training. Is anyone/pilot able to inform me of any commercial / airline licence colleges in South Africa which I can attend?

An unclassified alert distributed by the Transportation Security Administration to federal air marshals, airport screeners, and the cops has been made public -- and it's raising a few eyebrows. Air travel security types are advised to be on the lookout -- keep a sharp eye -- for terrorists practicing smuggling explosives aboard planes. The alert gave four examples of these dry runs:

•In San Diego, a checked bag held two ice packs covered with duct tape with clay inside, instead of the normal blue gel ice.

•In Milwaukee, a carry-on bag contained wire coil, an electric switch, batteries, [and] three tubes all wrapped around a block of cheese -- the consistency of some explosives.

•In Houston, a checked bag contained a plastic bag, 9-volt battery, wires, pipes, and a block of a clay-like substance.

•In Baltimore, a couple checked a bag containing a block of cheese in one plastic bag... taped to another plastic bag... with a cellular phone charger.

Non VIOLENT answers pls, let's be...

Personally I'm not that crazy about flying; they crowd you in like sardines and the seats are cramped and down right uncomfortable!
I've booked a flight on Midwest airlines for this fall. The main reason why I picked them is that they were the only ones offering nonstop flights to and from Orlando.
I'll be traveling with two autistic boys who have never flown before and we're taking a pretty big gamble that things will go smoothly for us. Has anyone used this airline before and what was impression of their service?
