I fly them all the time since I live near(ish) Frankfurt. I've flown with them inter-Europe, transatlantically and to Asia.

They're fine. I've flown them alone with two and three children and they were very helpful. Because they're German, they don't seem all "happy-friendly" but they're actually quite nice and genuine when you actually talk to them.

The planes are clean, food pretty good and Lufty also has an excellent safety record.

I'm also an ex F/A so I would know if they weren't good ;)

P.S. They're not perfect but neither point is relevent to you. I did have a problem once (having to do with one of my kids so no concern for you). They did ignor my email. My other gripe is that their site is a little messy and I can never get deals on it.

I know this is probably not what you're looking for but I am a loyal employee of Lufthansa and I trust that you will have a great flight. Outside of my job I am also a consumer and comparatively speaking Lufthansa is in my opinion far superior. As far as the 'German' persona I would have to agree with the previous post, there is a straight forward and abrasive stigma attached, but they are truly kind hearted generous people. And just in case you were looking for some insider information about travelling well my advice is simple....Do unto others as you would have them do unto you....

Lufthansa is one of the best airlines out there. They have great service. The only down side with them is there aren't personal televisions on coach. They will, however, show movies and shows on the big screens through out the cabin.

If you are spending 17 hours in Lufthansas' economy class, I hope you are a small person. Their economy class is designed for midgets.

The airline is top-notch, however, the ambiance is VERY different from our "folksy" attitudes. But, I fear, based on configurations and own experience, seats are MUCH more cramped than on US carriers. Try to bargain for an aisle, if possible...
