I got one of those crazy airline deals to fly somewhere out of the country for $9.00 USD one way. So I felt just for kicks, I would get a ticket. I figured $18 and then pay for a hotel there. Why not, right?
Well, during the checkout procedure on the airline's website, $18.00 + $89.70 Taxes and fees make it come up to $107.70. OMFG, what the heck is this???????
I was throwing the idea around to go to Nicaragua. I don't speak the language nor do I leave the country often. Now i don't even want to go. Look at these fees!
Passenger Facility Charge $4.50
Security Tax $2.50
Federal Inspection Fee $5.00
US Immigration Fee $7.00
International Departure Fee $30.20
International Fee $40.50
Has anyone else had this same sticker shock!!! I thought our tax dollars went to the TSA and Homeland Security? I have no problem paying a couple of bucks but when airline discounts a fare, the fees should be a percentage, like a tax, not a flat fee. This is robbery!
