Santa has to visit millions of houses in one night. Therefore, he obviously operates in a totally different time frame than the rest of us. 'Flying', in the sense that we know it, would not suffice. He enters a different dimension. Santa is a supernatural being and doesn't have to comply with the normal laws of physics.
I thought everyone knew this.

Nah, he has a special transponder that squawks for air traffic controllers. Or maybe he just gives them goodies...
