If it's weather related (and they'll always try to say it's weather related) there is no compensation. They'll put you on the next available flight at no extra charge. However, if that flight isn't on the same day, they won't pay for a hotel room either.
Always try to avoid connecting flights, even if it means spending a couple of extra bucks.

you usually fly on the next avaliable plane and sometimes if your ticket is from one of the cheap ticket sites they might have no refund or no replacement flight if you miss your flight and what not Hopefully you dont get delayed!!

This would be an act of God and no compensation is valid however it does depend on the airline.

The airline will do its best to reschedule, reroute you. If it good to clearly state you needs, but realize that some inconvenience is inevitable.
