Do some online searches yourself. I've found that I can find better pricing that going through the travel agent (which I used to always do). You can use the "regulars" (travelocity.com, hotwire.com, etc.), but also try the individual airlines (midwestairlines.com, nwa.com, etc.) -- they sometimes provide the same or better rates than the bargain sellers, without all the stipulations!
