Travel - 19 November 2007

Does anyone else find that the only people who claim that "everyone calls them anti-semitic simply because they disagree with some of Israel's policies" are indeed anti-Semetic? I have many close friends from Lebanon, Palestine and the UAE (to name a few), and all of these people are reasonable and enlightened. We agree in our desire for peace, and are all dedicated to the cause. In order to do this, we talk with open minds. We work to transcend our own biases (let's all admit we have them), and truly try to see things from the other perspective. Usually when we disagree it is because someone doesn't understand the other point of view; discussion usually leads to a compromise or shared viewpoint.

These people sometimes criticize Israeli policy, or Israel. I do the same and so does my family; Israel is not perfect, nor is any other country, and we all desire improvement.

These people feel ok criticizing Israel, and know that Jews don't hold it against them.

- its a long plane flight away
- it may be emotional becuause I will meet old friends
- the break in my current typical north american routine scares me a wee bit
-i will miss my "usual stuff- bed, kitchen" etc.
is this normal? how do i cope with it? I almost feel that i should not start any thing new at this time becuase I am going on a trip.

I have a friend and she's an illegal alien (mexican). She's living at San Francisco and wants to travel by Plane to Los Angeles to visit a friend but she's scared to travel by plane coz she might get deported... She will only use her Valid Mexican Passport as indentification during boarding (as they dont have CA I.D.) is this ok? i told her i think its safe to travel by plane as long as its inside the USA or domestic flights only and NOT international flights, am i right? HELP PLS, DO YOU HAVE ANY FRIENDS WHO TRAVEL WITHIN THE USA ONLY EVEN W/O LEGAL PAPERS??? Based on Experience is the best advise you can give me. Thank you

Well about a year ago, i started talking to a korean girl online. Soon enough, we started liking each other alot, and we started an online relationship. we sent gifts back and forth and we wanted to meet. well, we didnt have the means to do this really, since we lived on the opposite side of the world (i live in the u.s.) but ...

i got the idea to go to korea on my school's foreign exchange program. i had to work really hard to get the visa, money, passport, application, etc. to do all of this. i was supposed to leave in a couple months from now. i got worried sometimes during our relationship but she assured me that i can trust in her love, and that she couldnt wait to meet me in real life...

well, as of yesterday, i was talking to her on msn, and she just told me that she didnt love me anymore. i asked her why and she said she didnt know. and then i told her about how hard i had to work in order to do this, and she just said 'sorry'. nothing else....

I have looked through the excursions on the Carnival website, I know they are priced high. We know what we are doing in Calica but I can't decide what to do in Cozumel.
I want to see the jungle but I also want to shop a little for souvenirs but I really don't want to have to pay the cruise line so I can go shop (that's just crazy).
Any suggestions???

And do they port at beaches that are worth seeing or do you have to go somewhere for the white sand, etc...?

It's cold and you can't ride your motor-bike without freezing your face on a scared look.
It's always a heart-breaking moment when you think of taking a bath in this freezing weather.

I am planning to go to Lake Tahoe this long weekend (23 Nov - 25 Nov 07). I see that all the ski lifts and resorts are closed and they report base snow depth of 0''. Would you know of locations at Lake Tahoe where I could see and walk on snow?

I would really like to live in Somerville or Cambridge, because obviously the Boston area is the best place to meet people, but I'm not sure what my (real) commute would be like... as in, with traffic on 495, not the 35 minute mapquest version!!! Any insight would be VERY welcome!!! Thanks!
