Having spend some time in Israel, I have had some first hand opinions and interaction with women in the Middle East, both from Jewish and Moslem backgrounds, as my partner worked extensively in education on Public Health over there.

I often hear comments relating to how "oppressed" women are, and while it is certainly true that womens roles are often very different to those of women in say England or the US, I am not sure that their lives are as the western media portrays them.

Sure, there are different expectations of dress, and different types of marriages, yet the middle eastern women I have directly encountered have been strong, vital figures in their families, respected within their society, strongly opinionated and passionate.

There are certainly areas in which they do not have equal rights, and aspects of culture which I personally find hard to stomach, but as to whether they are oppressed - that is a complex question.

What are your impressions?

I wanted to get some before or during my vacation there, but some say the maps haven't been updated for years so I shouldn't count on being able to find my way even with a map in my hand. Is it just another prejudice about India? Not trying to start a discussion about the about the assumptions people make about others people or cultures etc - just asking about the maps!

I was contacted this morning by an automated phone call saying I would receive 2 free bording passes for an "all-inclusive cruise to Nassau, Bahamas" just for answering a 10 question survey. It also said all entertainment and food would be included. It said they did not need any credit card or bank information. It said they only needed the name I would want on my bording pass. I took the survery. I actually talked to a real person afterwards, I asked her what the catch was, she informed me there was no catch. All they needed was my name and a phone number for a representative to call me within 72 hours to get the name I wanted on my bording passes. I gave her a made up name and my cell number. I am just interested in seeing if I receive another phone call. Where else can I find out info on checking if this is another holiday scam???? HELP ME FIGURE THIS ONE OUT!!!!

I've never flown to Europe before and I usually don't sleep well on airplanes. I'll arrive in Rome in the morning and I can't go to sleep because that's going to be my only day to see Rome. Is there something I can take to make me sleep through most of the flight, but not be drowsey in the morning? I've taken Tylonal PM and NyQuil before but they both make me tired for several hours when I get up. I'm sure I'll be chugging coffee once I get there too.

Thanks for your help!

There are many people in London from all over the world. Do everyone live in peace and harmony? Or do people stick to their own race/country and look down upon other races? I'm just wondering since I haven't been to London but I might be moving there pretty soon. Any kind of opinions are acceptable and please don't misunderstand the question. I'm not trying to offend.

Why do they say the same words to different girls over and over again??

Why don't they start a new strategy or a new way of speech??

Why do they always have to say, "my love" , "my eyes", "my heart"

why dont they say " you are the hair inside my nose that i cannot live without"

OR

" you are my saliva that i swallow"

OR

"you are my nails that i hurt when its broken"

?????????????
