What do you think about that?

That is not true. I think before you make a statement like that you should site where you found statistical data to support it. For the past five years Detroit has never been the most dangerous city in the US. It has been behind St Louis, Camden NJ, Baltimore, Atlanta, and New Orleans.

OMG if yahoo news said it it has to be true. Morons Detroit is not the most dangerous city. Also, you have to look at the amount of people that live in Detroit the more people the more crime. Also, I hate Bush so please keep that in mind while reading this. I am a white person who grew up in southwest detroit. My house was never broken into nor did I have a car stolen. It wasn't until I moved to the suburbs that my car got stolen. whether or not bush hates black people is not why detroit is bad. The police force is corrupt so is the government. Kwame is a dumb a$$ who does not care about the city. Detroit could be beautiful and wonderful. We need to work ont he school systems and maybe people who grew up their would not become adult criminals. Anyways, I degress Detroit is not the most dangerous city.

"You've got to see it to believe it" - Basically they should just mad up some statistics and black Detroit is considered by many as "a black city" they decide that for a change they will make Motor City on top of #1 most dangerous city. Every city (even Detroit) has its good points and bad points.
Also perhaps if Bush stopped spending money on bombs perhaps they could get the city back onto its feet again, or maybe not as Kanye West said: - "George Bush doesn't care about black people!"

I've had more bad stuff happen to me in London and Istanbul than Detroit. Any big city will be dangerous if you don't keep your wits about you. Crime happens everywhere.

Yea right! All cities have their good & bad parts. My Fiance & I go to Tiger's games (At Comerica Park for the past 4 yrs) in the heart of the City 42 games a season mind you... I think if this was correct something would've happened on one of those outings...BS if you ask me personally!

For all of the people saying that Detroit is safe, look around you, I’ve lived in Detroit my entire life, still do now. Downtown is nice, within that whole maybe 20 block radius, you see cops on patrol, people walking from place to place. Its seen a great transformation over the years. Outside of that the city is in chaos. My grandmother lives in *brightmoor* an area of Detroit that is all but uninhabitable. Houses burnt down and empty everywhere. Drug deals going on in broad day light, illegal dumping everywhere. People stealing any type of metal they can get their hands on. I live in Detroit in an area that 15 years ago was a testament that all of Detroit wasn’t dead, but now its riddled with crackheads, and drug dealers. Going 10 houses down on both sides of the street I have 6 that are abandoned, with people breaking down the doors, busting the windows, and getting inside to sell dope from them. Detroit police say *they will check into it?* Mind you I only live 5 minutes from Dearborn, and Dearborn Heights apparently safe suburbs. I hear gunshots on a regular basis, some close. You can call Detroit police but the truth is they are too busy, spread far too thin, and unequipped to deal with. Gang tags are regularly spotted on garages with video game inspired names, Silent Hill Crypts for one has been tagged on the old ladies house on the corners garage 5 times this summer. Children rule the streets here walking in the middle of the streets at all hours of the day and night, whether its a school day or not. People steal packages out of mail boxes, having something delivered? Not to your house, you can't do that here someone will walk by and take it. I have to say knock on wood, that nothing horrible has happened to me yet. With the exception of a busted out window on my car, so someone could steal change and bottles from the inside, but I know people who have been mugged, robbed at gun point, and had their cars stolen. This city can't get better until its streets are cleaned up. I totally agree with this report.

It's not nearly as bad as people make it out to be. Just don't look for a fight. Same applies to every big city.
The area I go to school in is very safe.
