I wanted to get some before or during my vacation there, but some say the maps haven't been updated for years so I shouldn't count on being able to find my way even with a map in my hand. Is it just another prejudice about India? Not trying to start a discussion about the about the assumptions people make about others people or cultures etc - just asking about the maps!

TTK's road map of Maharastra and Gujarat i found to be excellent, Maps of Indian Karnataka I found it to be horrendous. There are so many good connecting roads, which are not featured. I feel the condition of the road has to be mentioned in latest updates, which in India will be very useful. Get in touch with me maybe i can help you to the best of my knowledge derebail2008@gmail.com

Not only do you hold vehicles up driving at 20 mph but you probably also belong to the ramblers association and the women's institute and have worked at the local library for 40 years sssshhhh.I bet you have been driving for 30 odd years and never had an accident but caused scores. If you cant ride a bike, you don't realise that providing the car driver doesn't hog the middle of the road and keeps to the left as supposed to do then the motorcyclist doesn't need to cross the centre line to overtake. They are not a danger to on coming Traffic. As for going 60-70 mph over speed bumps you would see motorbikes flying over your car not around it.If i were you i would leave the car in the garage during the week and only use it on a Sunday afternoon when you have a better chance of causing an accident to a motorcyclist.

For big cities you can trust the ones from Eicher.. However, these too may not be 100% accurate as the cities are getting updated faster then the maps. Best advise would be... when in doubt.. ask around... ask ten people and go with the consensus

I have seen new editions of MAPS getting in the market often. But unfortunately almost never seen an updated one ever. Even many of the old ( 10-15 years) roads are not updated even now.

As a whole in India a agency of Govt. of India do exists for updating the road maps but i have no hesitation to say that they are not doing their job. However private Publisher namely
"Eicher"is publishing the Maps of various cities for tourist purposes as well for local residents. But it is certain they are also not 100% ccorrect.
u may also go to on this link www.eindiamaps.com
this link may fulfil your object. I hope so.
