It exists everywhere, sadly. London is no exception, although I do have the impression that people of different races get along much better in London, than anyplace else I visited.

I dont know why so many people have got thumbs down on this -- apart from some whoo are completely wrong lolz... but yeah london does have racism but not as much as other places, mainly due to the fact their is lots of different "races" and people from other cultures. BUT people in london do tend to stick to their own kind,, they dont usually mean to thats just how it happens, like depending on the area you live in their will be a high density of white people and a small amount of other races,, and in another area you will mainly only see black people,, and another asian...Like where i live theirs alot of "africans" but they dont all mix together,,the somalians only hang around with each other and its the same for nigerians - not saying that a few people get intermixed but its never on an equal quanitiy thing -- i always look like the snowflake out of my freinds lmao...
but all the different cultures dont really look down upon each other but they dont get along all the same -- but usually its not down to skin colour its just based upon where your from....
ohh and peace and harmony would be a bit boring =]

Generally people live together in peace and harmony, although language and culture can be a barrier. Of course racism exists - to be honest you only have to look at some of the answers on Yahoo for evidence of that.

London is actually not too bad but it would be a lie to say that all is well.
There are ghettos of Indians, Bangladeshis, Blacks.and so on.
It is true that London is more racist than places where they never see anyone with a dark skin. No surprise there!
Strange facts;
1. The police have a black police association.
2. Blacks include Iranians and Indians!
3. Asian means from the Indian sub-continent. What does that make Chinese?
4. The head of the London police said that his force was 'Institutionally racist' and was not fired.
Many people in London are in denial about racism. It is not open but it is rife.

Racism exists. Period. It doesn't matter where you go you'll find it at some point.
I was in London only recently - it has gone through some changes - personally I found it more threatening than I had previously. I like to think myself as a perceptive kind of person and the atmosphere (though everyone having a good time) felt as it was going to explode any minute - nothing in particular happened its just how I felt.
I don't feel that London is as exciting as it used to be even with all these different cultures - which does and always has made the city vibrant....something has made it change.

As many people have said, Racism is alive and kicking all over the globe and yes London does have racism too but what do you expect this is England a society that divides by class and everything has it's box.

Unfortunately racists exist everywhere in the world but there is not a significant problem to worry about in London.
Its a fantastic city full of multi-national communities that combine to make a vibrant cosmopolitan atmosphere. Generally londoners are very accepting and interested in other cultures- you will be fine.
Its my favourite city in the world I'm sure you will have a fantastic time here!

Yes, sorry to say racism does exist here in London. I have no personal experience of it myself as I am white, but have many black and Asian work mates who say they have encountered it from time to time. Mostly it's of the overt kind and very difficult to prove. There are laws forbidding it, but the English get around these laws by slagging off the Celts instead.

Pretty happy to be answering your question. London is fine but some people might give a hard time for ridiculous reasons. You can be discriminated for almost everything, your accent, hair colour, skin colour, laugh....just like everywhere in this world. most important thing is not to take it too personally and you will be fine.
