I've never flown to Europe before and I usually don't sleep well on airplanes. I'll arrive in Rome in the morning and I can't go to sleep because that's going to be my only day to see Rome. Is there something I can take to make me sleep through most of the flight, but not be drowsey in the morning? I've taken Tylonal PM and NyQuil before but they both make me tired for several hours when I get up. I'm sure I'll be chugging coffee once I get there too.

Thanks for your help!

I work in an airport and a lot of travelers use ambien (prescription) to get over the jet lag on long flights.

benadryl wrks great...
but with tylenol pm and nyquil ....
they work good for an 8 hours sleep ...
time yourself ... wat time u need to b awake.. and fresh .. if need b ... take them 10hours prior to time to b ready for a meeting ....
take em' b4 your flt .. that's too an option u may want to consider...
chamomile tea works well... but not for everyone ... and may not let u sleep all thru the flight ...
hav a good meal..( a full tummy lets u sleep well)
carry eye pads( to block your light.)
if need be... have half a glass of milk ... it wil let u sleep well...

good luck .. and have a safe flight
cheers!!

I've found it to be as simple as 2 benadryl. Take them when you are in your seat, ready to fall asleep. If you take them in the airport, before you get on the plane (and fight through the drowsiness) they won't work. Have fun in Rome!
