Phoenix is the fast growing big city in the nation, It may become second LA, and air pollution, traffic, and hot weather, dust winds, shortage of water, high criminal rate, poor neibourhood, a lot illegle immigrants will make the city dying.

What is the growing pain in the city? do you think it will become second LA? why the city don't want to control its growth?

I don't think it will become the second LA. Phoenix is making strides to try and create a real downtown, is storing water, has made some efforts to curb air pollution, and the "urban village" concept is controlling sprawl. It's not perfect, by any means, but I think the city is moving the right way now.

yeah Marc pretty much says it all. Phoenix is going in the right path and isnt growing stupidly like LA did in the 20th century. To prevent this phoenix is even changing its downtown, plating trees, lawn and more parks. Its polluted areas are also under serious construction. its nott guna be poor! 60% of is pretty educated and the other 40% is getting better educated so it wont stay like that.
The only growing pain is that the highway's arent completed. it may sound dumb but really. scine so many people moved here in the last 8 years the highways only had 2 lanes and that wasnt enough! so they are making more and widing streets so the traffic went off the wall. thats the only problem.
I DEFFINETLY dont think it will be a 2nd LA. LA is slowly making plans to change too so it wont be as bad either. It may be a 2nd LA like Orange County. there is a new six flags comming, new houses and is making water plans. but maybe water WILL be a problem and kinda is now. but not like atlanta.

It cant cant control growth becasue years ago large housing companis but HUGE lands to build homes and they cant sell it or they will loos LOTS of money so they have no choice but to build.

dont listen to those dumb rumors

I would certainly hope not (Unless all that included Disney Land. I mean seriously, we JUST passed the waveyard bill?)
I think every city has those sort of problems. Poor areas, high criminal rate. Personally I don't see the big deal with illegals (Then again, I'm only a teenager so I doubt that I know anything past what my teachers tell me.)
I doubt that it's because it doesn't want to. It might be because it can't. How are you supposed to control the population (If that is what you mean) without going Communist?

It may become 2nd LA, the most problems come from water shortage and pollution, and the low cost of living make phoenix to be hub of low skill workers.
