Why??
the meat tastes wonderful
- and for banning products and items.. good idea.
All countries are killing - wiping out - animal species and destroying the land and the environment in which they ( and we ) have to live.
So why don't we ban products from ALL the countries.
That would be just.

Yeah, you can do that if you're protesting on Japan's goods and products. But whaling is a completely different topic and it doesn't matter if you buy it or not. That's definitely not going to stop the whaling in the non-industrial area of Japan. Which is the only area that's doing something like whaling.

If you search on youtube, you'll see that one of the European country does whaling, and Korea has started whaling as well. Why are you only looking at Japan? Japan is limiting the number of whales being killed so it'll never endanger the existence of those whales like America has when they used to do whaling. The U.S. is actually the whole reason why the entire world had to stop whaling. First the U.S. took as much whales as they can to compete with other businesses, endangered it, then demanded the whole world to stop whaling because that's a bad thing to do according to them. But the American government still allows the Eskimos to hunt whales though(Who are living in the U.S. territory).

Small numbers of whales are being killed for research. And few amounts of whales are being killed in two small non-industrial area of Japan for food and tradition.

Sorry, but i agree with Jasonman, as if you would throw away all your Sony products. Japan's companies make products which span the globe and are sold world wide, so if you, a single person, decides not to but japanese products, it won't change anything, Japan will still be making their millions and billions of dollars.
And i'm afraid that WE can't do anything as we are not in any power to make decisions about Japan, the world's second superpower after America.

"japan is not the world 2nd supper power after the usa."
only its economic size is the 2nd after the usa, and china is about to take the world 2nd place in 5 year.

Why you should condemn/protest/end Japan's whale 'research'?

Nobody has has any right to stop or blame someone eating something, even he thinks it's odd food or it's not food at all. I personally think that snail is not a food, but I never blame French people who eat Escargot.

Also, you should think about carefully and rationally. Japanese don't want to eliminate whales. Because they want to continue to eat. If whales disappear completely, who will miss them the most? It should be Japanese. I agree that endangered species should be protected or controlled by some ways, however, you still don't have any right to blame Japanese or any other people because of their food.

I also have any right to blame you even you stop buying Japanese products. So if you want to do, please do.

Well, the hypocracy lies with the Western countries that take up their anti-whaling stance.

There shouldn't have to be any hiding the fact. Japan doesn't really hide it anyway. Everyone knows that Japan is using a loophole to whale for food, and so it is.

So, really your protesting efforts shouldn't be about not allowing yourself to enjoy well-made Japanese products, but instead about talking to your local politicians who may have influence in your government's role in the IWC.

Tell him or her your concerns about the hypocritical anti-whaling voice being put out, when cows, chickens, and pigs are left to live their lives in horrible conditions before being finally murdered for fast food combo meals.

Tell them how you think it's idiotic that the U.S. is blaming Japan for nonexistant problems with whaling, when it was of course the U.S. that encouraged whaling in Japan back when the U.S. occupied Japan at the end of WW2.

Tell them your concerns about protestors from your country that are too aggresive with peaceful Japanese whalers, and how you respect the whalers' restraint.

So, yeah, I think you need to rethink your ideas.

Then again, more Japanese stuff for me, so either way is O.K.

I condone it. I think whale fry is tasty. How are you going to avoid buying Japanese products? Even a Harley-Davidson or Corvette has a Nippon Seiki instrument panel.

If I use the words of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, great Japanese leader from 16th century : Make them want to do it.
If you force somebody or something what you will get in return is equally strong force of opposition. If you want somebody to follow your personal choice, don't push it on him. Leave him choose.
If you make of yourself an example worth following, people will follow you and make the same choice as yours.
Posting a rant-like question concerning conservation and wild life on a travel information section only shows that for now you are pushing and logically, you won't get any results.

we can 'research' the whales until there are none left. When there are none left, the killing stops.

Sorry for the sarcasm, but I think that's where we are heading to! Already we live 'in the last decade of fresh seafood' according to international scientists, and that means something!

Yea. You shouldn't buy and use any Japanese products even for a piece from now on.
Please swear and commit your plan. I think it is very nice idea.
