I'm taking my wife, son and in-laws to las vegas for six days in mid-June for a family vacation. We're not big gamblers, so I'm concerned that entertaining five people will be a challenge -- and very expensive. Our budget will allow us to see at least one show during our stay. But what can we do the rest of the week?

Hi, I'm british, and for a project I am researching what people's first impressions of the UK are, for example your gut reactions on stepping off the plane, or the first sight of the white cliffs of Dover, and what this means to you.

Thank-you very much!

So this is the situation: I'm a foreign student and in a few days I'm coming to the USA for the summer to work. My Job is in North Caroline, but at first I'm arriving at Washington DC and I found out that there are about 5 hours between my arrival at the airport and the bus to North Caroline. And of course I'd like to use them to see some places and take a few pictures, but I have never been there before and I want to clear up a few things in advance. First - about the public transportation within the city- which type of transport is the most convenient, how much do the tickets cost, where are they sold (in the bus or somewhere outside), do I have to punch them or a ticket collector will pass and collect them? Also how much do the taxies take per mile? And what is a reasonable sum to leave them as a tip? And about the places to visit - could you tell me some interesting places that diserve having a picture of (so far I know only the White House)?
And one additional question - about the greyhound busses - can I buy a ticket a few hours before the bus leaves or do I have to book a few days in advance? And is it possible to leave my luggage in their office for a few hours before the bus leaves?
Lol, I know these are common things and I would find out if I stayed there for a little more time, but as I have only five hours I want to do everything the faster the possible, so I'd better know these things before I get there. I'll be also very thankful if you share anything you think will be useful to me.Thanks a lot in advance!

I have two..They are 'Orhan Pamuk - Benim Adım Kırmızı' and the other is 'Turgut Özakman - Şu Çılgın Türkler'

I liked 'Benim Adım Kırmızı' because I loved his writing style and its ending..
And I think I don't need to explain why I liked 'Şu Çılgın Türkler' ;-)

We will be moving to London soon and wanted some help about trendy, artsy, fun areas to live. On the NE or SE areas.

Someone is offering us a flat to rent 5 minutes away from Clapham North tube stop. Is it a nice location? are there shops, restaurants, supermarkets, pubs, etc in the area, what kind of people live there? is it safe and how far is it to the center?
Can you recommend other trendy/nice areas on the SE area. My husband will be working in Rochester, Kent so we need help.

Would you recommend:
1) Clapham. The flat is a 5min. walk to Clapham North Tube.

2) SE16 Surrey Quays Tube (there is a great 1bed. Penthouse, top floor overlooking Canary Wharf)

3) North Woolwich (Selection of stylish 1 bedroom apartments located in stunning & original warehouse conversion (WAR1) It is a fantastic flat with exposed brick walls. Is the tube close by, how dead is this area at nights and weekends? is it safe? anything to do in that area? What is DLR? is it the same as the Tube

I am traveling from Australia to the USA for the first time in September. And the last thing I want is to come down with some kind of cold or flu bug that will ruin my vacation.

We live about 13 hrs from Orlando and 7 hrs from Branson and we are driving, so is Orlando that much better than Branson? Driving 13 hrs will be rough so we are thinking about just going to Branson instead but should we just tough it out and go to Orlando?

Hi everyone. I recently applied for a goverment job which will be located in the District of Columbia. I expect to hear whether or not I will be called for an interview this month and offered the job. I know many young professionals live in the immediate area where the suburbs are (Silver Spring/Alexandria, et al) but because the cost of apartments are expensive there, I am looking for something in the Baltimore area. I realize that Baltimore is 41 miles away from Washington, but if the cost of living is cheaper, I'd like to consider living a little further out.

I'd like to ask if anyone can recommend a good area, or one that is up-and-coming for young professionals. I'd like to be within reasonable commuting distance of Washington, and I do have a car..although being close to mass transit is a plus. I'd also like to mention I do emphasize a good place should also be a safe place too. Thanks!
