My favorite is Cevdet Bey ve Ogulları by Orhan Pamuk. It is a great period book, telling amazing information about the first years of the Republic. For example, until I read it I thought greeting by kissing on the cheeks was an old tradition of Turks for centuries. It was astonishing to learn that it is adopted during the first years of the century because of the French influence.
I also adore Yasar Kemal's novels, especially the three book series called Bir Ada Hikayesi. He is a magnificent writer and the way he uses the language is like he is playing a very fine tuned musical instrument.

I hate all novels. I cant read them more than 5 pages.
Especially Orhan Pamuk. Lets say a man will eat his dinner . He writes and describe it in 15 pages.
And an other example for novels.
There is a murder at the beginning of the book. Why should I read next 350 pages to learn who did it? Last page It's written.
A book must be scientific and when you read it you must learn something .
Yaşamın Temel Kuralları By Ali Demirsoy.

I can't decide my favorite book in Turkish, but Irmak I hated Benim Adım Kirmizi, lol :) I liked the plot but his writing style! I finished reading it in spite of Pamuk's boring language just because I was curious about who the murderer was.

I don't like reading Turkish books for some reason. The last book I did read in Turkish was Hereketli Kitaplar Renkler...and that was when I was about 6 years old. :-)

All Soner Yalçın's books are great. The interesting point is; Menderes family or any other people which are written in these books still did not disapprovaled anything. So, they are true!!!
Now i m reading "Musa'nın Çocukları" by Ergün Poyraz. Also Tayyip or his dear wife still didnt do any comment about this book!!!
