Yes we celebrate Christmas the same as around the world - 25th Dec.
Only thing is our Santa is 'tropical'
He wears shorts and a tropical (Hawaiian) style shirt as it is too hot for the big thick Santa suit.

The Australians celebrate Christmas on December 25, but it is in the dead of Summer. It can reach very high temperatures, up to the nineties. The holiday is referred to as Xmas, and believe it or not, this holiday is in the middle of the Australian schools' summer break! The people have meals with relatives, either lunch, breakfast, or dinner; that would be exhausting! This holiday is celebrated much like it is in America. People sing Christmas carols, children write letters to Saint Nicholas, and the Australian people even celebrate the same Santa traditions and stories. There is still one major difference-the weather. Families that live on the beach often go for a swim! They do, however, have the traditional present opening on Christmas Day.

Yes we do, and it's very hot around Christmas. It's in the middle of summer and I couldn't imagine it being in winter! Yet we still decorate our Christmas Cards and stuff with snowmen and snowflakes... Am I the only one who finds that strangle? Lol

Yes,we celebrate on the 25th.It is usually very hot.Some people still have the traditional Christmas dinner,others have different food.We still sing all the usual carols,including the ones about snow,and Santa is either dressed up in the normal suit or a shorts.Because the weather is nice and warm,a lot of people spend at least part of the day outdoors.

Of course we do! That is the date of Jesus' birth and it is celebrated on this date all the world over. It is bloody hot though! Especially in the area I live in...up to 45-50 degrees celcius. Thats hot. We spend most of the day on the beach. Silly thing is...although it is soooo hot, we still like a traditional Christmas feast...with all the trappings. The house gets so hot from cooking that you can hardly sit inside and everyone stuffs themselves silly then have to roll our fattened bodies to the beach for the afternoon! Or try to sleep in the air conditioning. It's great fun though...love our Chrissy dinners! Although it would be easier to have a BBQ and salad like most normal Aussies!

Yes but the traditional Christmas lunch is a bit much when the temperature is 40C (or even a bit higher). We don't all go to the beach, if you want my opinion the beach over Christmas is really over-rated. It's hot, it's humid and the place is crowded with exhausted people complaining about the humidity. (Er, there's all that water out there, you know.)

Most do however as there are many cultures in Australia, some celebrate according to their religion.
So, no, not all of us.
A summer Christmas is excellent, picnics on the beach, family cricket matches, we are outdoors having fun, not stuck indoors LOL.

NO.... well do Easter then. We have Christmas some time in August - no fixed date, as long as there is plenty of kangaroo steaks and Christmas beer. Of course this is all very bad and the pope hates us now.
I would prefer to swap Easter and Christmas because the eggs melt in the summer heat and the beer tastes better because of that heat.
Was it August????? Maybe it was September........ Nobody remembers because of all the Christmas beer.

Yeah they do and like the others mentioned, it is hot! I am in the US, too, and one of the best Christmas pics I have received is from my friend who lives in Sydney. On that particular 25th, he was laying on the beach someplace in NSW, sweating up a storm while I froze my patootey off up here in the US!
Australians are usually quite nice with wonderful senses of humor. Don't let one jerk spoil your perception of them.
