I'm taking my wife, son and in-laws to las vegas for six days in mid-June for a family vacation. We're not big gamblers, so I'm concerned that entertaining five people will be a challenge -- and very expensive. Our budget will allow us to see at least one show during our stay. But what can we do the rest of the week?

Hoover Dam is off the hook.
A day at lake mead just enjoying the sun and its beauty.
A visit to Red Rock and Canyon of Fire.
You have enough people to get a visit to the neon museum. That is where all the old Vegas signs are stored. Wild place.
One day go to the wetlands at the eastern edge of Tropicana Avenue.
This is a great place to visit and you may do what I did. Just move here for the rest of your life.

Enjoy your trip.

There are places at lake Mead that have a "Beach" where the kids can go swimming. Have a picnic afterwords. Bring a ton of sun screen.

I see a lot of people saying hover dam. When we were there last winter because of the post 911 mentality, the traffic was bumper to bumper the last five miles and was as slow as a Los Angeles Freeway at 5 p.m. There was a check point and they narrowed everything to one lane each way. I strongly suggest extremely early or take a prepackaged tour bus.

mgm grand lion habitat is free. The mirage has a white tiger habitat. Cesar's palace has a talking statue show. If you are going to have a car red rock canyon is a short easy drive from Vegas and very beautiful and cheap. if you are into the circus. circus circus hotel has free circus shows. the belagio fountains is free it is an outside water show set to music.
