Hey, i was wondering if there was anyone out there living in Chicago from the LA area? I live in Manhattan Beach, but i am moving to Chicago (for the hell of it). Possibly Wrigleyville. My buddy had a transfer out that way, so I will be joining along for the ride. Any advice? Im a hardcore surfer so i have no idea how i am going to deal without the beach, but i heard Lake Michigan is as close to the ocean as you can get without living on the coast..anyways, take care.

I'm turning 40 in a couple of months and was looking for some ideas on how to celebrate a milestone birthday with a few close friends. I don't really want to take a far away trip and be away from my children for more than a night but I'm really wanting to do something fun. I am within a 3 hour drive of Lexington KY, Louisville, KY, Cincinnati, OH, Columbus, OH and Charleston, WV so info on any fun nightspots or places to celebrate would be appreciated.

Thanking everyone who came on here and gave me advice on meeting my boyfriend's parents. I had the best time of my life. To everyone who have labled Memphis as bad - if you haven't been there don't talk. Memphis has the most friendly, warm and caring people I have ever met. My boyfriend's parents were great. I remembered everything you guys told me and everything went well. I was totaly myself. When I landed in San Fransico last night and saw two men kissing I really missed Memphis then. If I had children with my boyfriend on day I would love to raise them in Memphis. Thank you again Memphis!

I can't wait for my next visit. I really can't! I am taking about 8 of my friends down there. I really want them to see the not so artificial life. People are so real and not overrated and superficial.

T he TSA ( transportation Aurhority ) which is the security at the airports told me to buy Locks for my suitcase. They told me to but TSA approved ones so the security can open them if needed ( they have a key). My question is I am traveling to Europe in a couple of weeks and I think its a different security system that they use and I don't know if they will allow my TSA approved locks. Has anyone used them whils traveling to Europe?

Im am going to Argentina and am going to be staying in hotels. Should I take my laptop that is brand new? My mother is from Argentina and she says no don't take it, she does not trust even the hotel people!! What do you think? Has anyone taken their laptop there and had a problem? I am supposed to be flying in to Denver early Saturday morning. I hear another big storm is coming through Thurs-Fri, possibly as bad as the last.
I am flying Southwest and am wondering if they will simply reroute the flight or will they just all together cancel it?
I am trying to plan ahead so I do not get stuck!
It would be approx. $300 dollars more for me to reroute my own flight itinerary to fly into another airport.....

I never fly so any advice would help. Please don't bother with ridiculous answers (I have no problem reporting you!).

Hi guys... I was just wondering if someone out there know that
- How long will it take me if i drive from Dubai (United Arab Emirates) to Jeddah (Saudi Arabia)?
- Hows the journey like?
- Safe to drive? or rather travel by air?

I am planning to visit dubai in august and was thinking if its a good drive from dubi to saudia in a rental company car. I have heard that those countries got really good road network and unlike UK petrol is cheaper then a bottle of mineral water. I enjoy driving as well so might as well experience the driving in middle east as well.

I speak (but don't write) an intermediate level of Egyptian Arabic, and I would learn how to write before I would go (I can read Middle Egyptian heiroglyphs, though!).

Also, I'm experienced with solo-traveling in European countries, but I've never been outside of Europe or the US.

I'm not sure I'd feel safe traveling alone in Egypt, though. Are my fears grounded in reality or media-myth? What are the best websites, if any, for learning about traveling solo in Egypt? Are you a woman or an american who has traveled solo in Egypt? Tips?
