I am taking a trip to Ho Chi Min City for five days at New Years and I am looking for some recommendations for things to do and see in the city, near the city and also for recommendations as to which of the near by beaches is best and whether we should spend the night when we go out to the beach? If we spend a night at the beach can anyone recommend a place to stay?

I am planning a 7-day trip to London with wife and daughter in May 2007, and am looking for reasonably priced hotel accommodation in decent localities.
Can you please recommend some decent and safe hotels (suitable for a couple in their 50's and a 22 year old daughter from India) priced about 70 UKP per night for the three of us? What localities would you recommend I concentrate my search on?
