I am planning a 7-day trip to London with wife and daughter in May 2007, and am looking for reasonably priced hotel accommodation in decent localities.
Can you please recommend some decent and safe hotels (suitable for a couple in their 50's and a 22 year old daughter from India) priced about 70 UKP per night for the three of us? What localities would you recommend I concentrate my search on?
The results on the net are quite mind-boggling.

The Strand Palace is cheap, but its apparantly terrible. A place to stay and that's it. Oh and a good location. But noisy, not clean, etc. Though again it is cheap. It's hard to get a nice good cheap hotel room in London.

A quick look at tripadvisor.com brought these up as under 100 pounds per night and highly rated.

Not many people know this unless you live in London.... i'll tell u what to do. The best thing for u is to get a room in a house. u will be able to rent it for a week ...it will be much cheaper than any other hotels in London. U just need to go to this website may be on April' 07. the site is: www.gumtree.com/
lot of Londoners go overseas and rent their rooms for a week or two in cheap prices. This is the best thing to do. Or you can always come and have a bed n breakfast opposite to Finsbury Park in Seven Sister's Road. There r plenty of hotels All the hotels are nice price from 35 GBP - 65 GBP. It's very convenient and cheap and safe. Tube station : Manor House or Finsbury Park. Good Luck.

A nice Victorian styled hotel near Buckingham Palace is called Jolly St Ermines. I liked it because it was a walk to everything unless it was raining and then I had to take a taxi. Not sure how much it is per night but the cost includes breakfast everyday. Not just continental breakfast either but a full breakfast.
