This is unusual in the U.S. but I hear it is kind of typical in Japan. Is it a custom or what? Again, this is what I heard as I have not been to Japan but plan on going their to live...

My daughters step mother wants to take my 14 year old to Canada for 3 or 4 days in Jan. 2007. I have been told she would need a passport to cross the border, is this true? I have also found it takes a few weeks to recieve your passport from the government. In order for her to recieve it in time for this trip I may need to do an express which is nearly twice the cost. Seeing as it is Christmas time the $180.00 (approx) is alot of money for me to put out right now. This money would end up being a large part of her gifts she would recieve. Her father has not even entertained the thought of helping me out financially to purchase the passport for her if needed. I would just like to know if anyone knows If it is necessary to have one. Thanks.

I'm going to be traveling to Miami and Orlando on December and I heard that the Cirque Du Soleil is offering shows there, I'm not sure if it's Miami or Orlando, but I really want to go. Can you give me any information about this or a website where I can find it? I would really appreciate it!
